Dear all!
I'm very new in this field. Few days ago I was looking the web for a
useful, easy-to-use and to administrate web interface for CVS, and I found this
java web application. I'd say that this is my first trial with a java web app!
This is what I did:

1. I've installed j2sdk1.4. And it seems to be fine
2. Since I've already installed apache on my machine, I installed tomcat 5.5 and
I think I did all necessary configuration
3. I've put jcvsweb.war in the webapp dir and restarted tomcat. The war file was
automatically exploded into the jcvsweb dir. In such a dir there are two other
dirs (META-INF and WEB-INF) and a single file (index.jsp)
4. I've type the address of mydomain/webapp/jcvsweb and for a while a page
appears and then suddenly disappers. The location is redirected to
mydomain/webapp/jcvsweb/home that doesn't exist.

Could you help me? It would me very kind of you!

Thanks

The solution of my problem was very simple... After installation you have to be
sure that the Tomcat server is working and that the firewall settings are such
that external connections are allowed on port 8080.
On my system port 8080 was already used for something else (don't ask me why) so
I changed the configuration in order to make tomcat listeing on port 8000 (a
free one) and finally it worked!
To be honest jcvsweb is not exactly what i expected. For example an important
feature still missing is the possibility to download a entire directory or a
module locally on your machine, possibly targizzeped.

Bye for now (toto)

As for the webapp address, I think you want to just say: "domain/jcvsweb", not "domain/webapp/jcvsweb". Tomcat should map to webapp for you.

As for the 404 when clicking on JSP files, this sounds like a problem with the extension on the filename being included in the path, which causes the request to look like a JSP page request, which of course do not exist. I will look into this when I get a chance.
