would it be nice if jCVS can talk ssl?

i set up cvs in :pserver: mode fired up by xinetd
with a stunnel wrapper on top of it.

to support ssl natively requires a lousy two lines change in file
/<somewhere>/jCVS-5.4.2/source/com/ice/cvsc/CVSClient.java
somewhere around line #3422 with this:

this.socket =
(Socket)HttpsURLConnection.getDefaultSSLSocketFactory().createSocket
(request.getHostName(), request.getPort());
((SSLSocket)this.socket).startHandshake();

add imports like this:
import java.security.*;
import javax.net.ssl.*;

it would be nice if some config checkbox can be added too, to let jCVS talk
either via SSLSocket, or the current plain Socket.

I think everybody would like to see this kind of change in the next
release.

Hi Michael,

This is the first time I have heard of this approach to securing the comms. Most
folks use the ssh method. I will definitely consider the addition of this
capability, if it does not complicate things too much. I would like to know if
others are interested in this capability.
